Sixteenth-century property in the heart of Volta Mantovana
The Residence
Paulonia Residence
The property is developed in the ancient stables of a more noble building that is located in front of the residence.
At the end of the 19th century, the stables were transformed into farmers' homes, showing poor, peasant architecture, and the building was decorated with a new and more elegant façade so that the eyes of the lords could enjoy a more pleasant view, looking out the windows of the building. A small deception as if to simulate a perfect theatrical fifth.
Patio/garden
The garden pertaining to the structure is accessible to guests for healthy relaxation, the patio is a space designed for summer breakfast and for moments of relationship, reading or contemplation.
The facade
In this façade, beautiful tuff bas-reliefs depicting the lion of Saint Mark, which recalls belonging to the Serenissima, and a votive shrine representing the Madonna and Child are embedded; the inscription “Long live Italy” is unique and patriotic, a legacy of the most recent fascist period and a cutout of a longer sentence that can be read on the historical photographs of the country's noble palaces.
Our kitchen
Breakfast prepared according to individual requests with attention to local and seasonal products. Subject to the landlord's availability, dinner is served in our large dining room or in season on our patio, creating moments of conviviality between guests and hosts.
The Foresteria
In 2024 we decided to use part of the Residence as a reception area. This is how Residenza Paulonia Foresteria was born.

We are in Volta Mantovana, a historic town lying in the reassuring silence of the historic moraine hills that were a battlefield at the time of the Wars of Independence with Solferino and San Martino.
Along with the small villages that surround it, Volta Mantovana still preserves many traces of its history intact and shows them with noble and discreet pride in renovations that have been able to maintain the charm of the time.
